Culture Days
Culture Days is a registered non-profit cultural organization that leads a national celebration of arts, culture and heritage across Canada. Each year, it coordinates a network of provincial partners, grassroots volunteers, artists and institutions to deliver thousands of free, interactive events that invite public participation in both urban and rural communities.
The initiative aims to foster appreciation for cultural life, promote dialogue between creators and audiences, and affirm citizen engagement as the foundation of community cultural vitality. Organizers benefit from marketing tools, development resources, and an integrated promotional campaign that aligns local activities under a national banner.
Culture Days originated in 2010 through a collaboration initiated by the Canadian Arts Summit, inspired by Québec’s Journées de la culture, and has since evolved from a weekend event into a sustained, year-round cultural catalyst. The national office, operating from Toronto—on Indigenous treaty lands—provides strategic direction, manages the website hub, supports registered events, and amplifies visibility across Canada's diverse regions.
In practice, Culture Days stands out for its accessibility (free or pay-what-you-can events), inclusivity, and wide geographical reach. It encourages meaningful community engagement, supports Indigenous programming, and makes culture publicly visible. Whether you’re a local organizer or a curious visitor, Culture Days offers a rich and authentic way to connect with Canada’s artistic and cultural expressions.
