Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society (DHAS) is a volunteer-based registered charity, founded in 1969. It supports the Delta Hospital Campus of Care, which includes Delta Hospital, Mountain View Manor residential care, and Irene Thomas Hospice. Its mission is to contribute to patient care and comfort via fundraising, volunteer services, and programs that meet community and hospital-identified needs. Over the decades DHAS has raised and donated millions of dollars for medical equipment, comfort items, therapeutic programs, and bursaries for students.

Programs & Businesses

DHAS runs several businesses to generate revenue: Courtyard Café, Dogwood Gift Shop, and a Thrift Shop (clothing, furniture, housewares). Proceeds from these support priority medical equipment, wellness and comfort programs such as music therapy, spiritual care, recreational therapy, pillow pals etc. They also provide student and staff bursaries. Volunteers play many roles: greeters, way-finders, visiting patients, supporting programs in recreation, arranging flowers, offering comfort.

Community & Volunteering

DHAS depends on a large volunteer force (hundreds annually) drawn from the local Delta community. Volunteers work in shops, hospitality, clerical support, special events, and community outreach. The Auxiliary is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors with expertise across finance, communications, healthcare, business. It works in coordination with the Delta Hospital Foundation and is a member of the BC Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries.

Impact & Support

Funds raised by DHAS are used to purchase medical equipment, support year-round programs that improve patients’ comfort, and subsidize staff/student training and bursaries. Its “Campus of Care” includes acute care, residential care, hospice care, so its support spans patient-centred comfort, therapeutic care, and long-term residence services. Many of the goods and amenities patients enjoy (gift shop items, café refreshments, comfort pillows, music programs) are made possible by DHAS.
