Health Connect Registry
The Health Connect Registry is a provincial service designed to help residents of British Columbia who need a family doctor or nurse practitioner. By registering, you are added to a waitlist specific to your community. When a primary care provider becomes available, local health teams will contact you to arrange care.
Registration Process
Registration takes less than five minutes and requires your Personal Health Number (PHN), home address, and contact information. You can also update your details at any time by calling HealthLink BC at 8-1-1. Translators are available in more than 130 languages, ensuring accessibility for diverse communities.
Who Should Register
Anyone living in B.C. without a family doctor or nurse practitioner is eligible. You can register for yourself, your family members, or someone under your care. People already on clinic or community waitlists may also transition into the Health Connect Registry without losing their original waitlist date.
After Registration
Once a provider is available, you will be contacted by phone or email. While waiting, you may still access urgent and primary care centres, walk-in clinics, or pharmacies for immediate needs. Keeping your information current improves the chance of being matched quickly.
Why It Matters
Establishing a long-term relationship with a family doctor or nurse practitioner is key to better health outcomes. The Health Connect Registry provides an organized and transparent process to connect residents to primary care, especially during shortages in many regions of the province.
