- Strong research infrastructure and involvement in clinical trials, which helps bring cutting-edge care.
- Accessibility of the emergency department 24/7 and many outpatient / day-medicine clinics helping reduce burden on inpatient services.
Challenges / Considerations:
- It is an older hospital; some infrastructure is aging (this is mentioned in sources that note issues of building condition).
- Wait times for non-urgent consultations and specialist referrals can be long, depending on clinic and demand.
- Parking availability and cost, plus access during peak times or construction / road works, may complicate visits.
- Navigation through multiple pavilions and ambulatory vs inpatient units can be confusing for new visitors; signage and wayfinding may vary.
Practical Information
- For blood draws, lab tests there is a centre de prélèvements with its own schedule.
- Polyclinique Maisonneuve-Rosemont is part of the complex though some services there are managed separately.
- Specialist clinic-by-appointment is usual for many services; some day-clinics and day-surgeries are provided.
- For emergencies, the main emergency entrance is on boulevard de l’Assomption. Psychiatric emergency also operates.
