Mount Saint Joseph Hospital
Mount Saint Joseph Hospital (MSJ) is an acute care community hospital together with a long-term care residence located in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. It opened in 1946 and serves a diverse, multicultural population. It provides inpatient acute hospital care, outpatient services, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, surgical day care, and other support services. The long-term care home on site accommodates about 60 residents; the residents’ care program is specifically attentive to the predominant Cantonese population as well as all cultural backgrounds.
Emergency & Diagnostic Services
The hospital offers an Emergency Department that operates daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. For patients needing lab tests, imaging (X-ray, ultrasound, mammography), or surgical day care, MSJ provides these diagnostic and outpatient services. Pre-admission clinics, eye clinics, ambulatory clinics are also part of its service mix.
Long-Term Care Facility Features
MSJ’s long-term care residence has a mix of private, semi-private, and four-bed rooms. Residents have access to sunroom and outdoor patios when weather permits, as well as culturally sensitive care (language, beliefs, communication) especially for Cantonese speaking residents.
