Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH) is West Ottawa’s only full-service community hospital. It provides a broad range of acute and outpatient care with 355 inpatient beds and a team of several thousand healthcare professionals serving the Ottawa Valley. Cornerstone programs include Emergency, Surgery, Medicine, Critical Care, Childbirth, Geriatrics, Mental Health, and Rehabilitation.

The Emergency Department operates 24/7 and is among Ontario’s busier ERs, seeing tens of thousands of visits annually, including a significant proportion of pediatric patients. QCH’s surgical and medical units support common and complex procedures, with dedicated inpatient and ambulatory clinics. Seniors benefit from specialized elder-friendly units and day programs designed to prevent decline and support safe transitions home.

Patient Experience

Patients can view lab results, reports, discharge medications, visit history and upcoming appointments through the Connected Care Patient Portal. The portal supports virtual visits and multilingual access. iPhone users may integrate records via Apple Health; Android and iOS users can also use the MEDITECH “MHealth” app (portal name: Connected Care). On-site supports include interpretation services, spiritual care, parking and transit guidance, and a patient bill of rights.

Childbirth & Family Care

The childbirth program emphasizes family-centred care, with prenatal to postpartum supports and coordination with community providers. Diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, rehabilitation, and mental health services help streamline referrals and follow-up.

QCH is located in Ottawa’s west end at 3045 Baseline Road. Wayfinding maps, parking details, and visitor guidance are provided before arrival. For non-urgent needs, patients are encouraged to use the portal, clinics, or community resources; for urgent concerns, the ER remains available 24/7.
