Quest Non-Profit Grocery Markets
Quest Outreach Society is a Vancouver-based non-profit organization focused on reducing food insecurity by providing healthy and affordable food to those in need through community grocery markets.
Mission & Vision
Quest’s mission is to:
- Reduce hunger with dignity
- Promote sustainability by minimizing food waste
- Support vulnerable individuals and families with better food access
They believe that everyone deserves access to quality food in a dignified and respectful environment.
How It Works
Quest operates five non-profit grocery markets across the Lower Mainland:
- Burnaby
- Surrey
- North Vancouver
- East Vancouver
- Downtown Eastside
These markets are not open to the general public. Access is granted through referrals from community resource partners (e.g. shelters, health clinics, support agencies).
Referred individuals receive a Quest Client Card, which allows them to shop for groceries at significantly reduced prices.
Sustainability & Food Rescue
Over 90% of Quest’s food inventory is donated by retailers, distributors, and producers. By rescuing surplus yet perfectly good food:
- They help reduce landfill waste
- They lower greenhouse gas emissions
- They promote environmental responsibility
