TELUS Health Virtual Care
TELUS Health Virtual Care is a Canada-wide telehealth solution designed to give employees and their families convenient, secure access to healthcare providers. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the service connects users with licensed nurse practitioners, physicians, mental health professionals, and allied health specialists through a mobile app, web platform, or desktop.
The program covers a broad range of primary and mental health services. Nurse practitioners can diagnose conditions, prescribe and refill medications, order lab work, provide referrals to specialists, and offer follow-up care. Patients can also access therapy and counselling for mental health, nutrition advice from dietitians, and physiotherapy sessions. Over 80% of cases are resolved without requiring an in-person visit, reducing the burden on clinics and emergency departments.
The service is provided at no cost to eligible members through their employer’s group benefits plan. Family members, including spouses and dependents under 26, are included in coverage. Appointments are accessible in both English and French, and all patient information is stored securely in Canadian data centres with full compliance to federal and provincial privacy laws.
TELUS Health emphasizes integration with existing healthcare providers. With patient consent, family doctors are kept informed of treatments or prescriptions initiated through virtual care. The platform’s flexibility makes it particularly valuable for patients in urban centres such as Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, and Ottawa, as well as in rural areas where access to care can be limited.
