Toronto Railway Museum
The Toronto Railway Museum is located in the historic John Street Roundhouse at 255 Bremner Boulevard in downtown Toronto. Established in 2010 by volunteers of the Toronto Railway Historical Association, it is operated by that charity and showcases the history and experience of rail transportation in Toronto and Ontario.
Exhibits include a variety of full‑sized locomotives, rolling stock, locomotives, passenger and freight cars, interactive displays, and a miniature railway ride during warmer months. Visitors can learn to operate a train using a simulator, walk through a replica 19th‑century railway village, and enjoy the miniature train pulled by replica steam or diesel engines.
Year‑round guided tours and school programs are offered. Educational programming aligns with the Ontario curriculum and can be delivered onsite, in-classroom or virtually. A gift shop on site sells locally produced souvenirs, books and railway memorabilia.
Admission is free, though the miniature train ride charges a fee and operates seasonally based on weather. The museum is partially accessible and provides interpretive storytelling for all ages.
Overall, the museum delivers a compact but richly immersive experience of Toronto’s railway legacy—ideal for families, school groups and anyone interested in interactive heritage in a historic industrial setting.
